Lil' Red
Lil' Red is a beloved mascot of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's athletic programs. The mascot was created in 1993 after a statewide contest was conducted to find a counterpart for Herbie Husker. Lil' Red is often seen at Nebraska football and basketball games, and has even been known to crowd surf! The mascot is incredibly light weight, which allows it to run, dance, and shake hands with fans. In 1999, Lil' Red won the national championship at the NCAA National Mascot Competition. In 2007, the mascot was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame.
